Review: NO

If you’re like me, you probably feel like there should be more bands in the world like The National. It sounds like Los Angeles-based band NO has heard my pleas. Their six-song debut,Don’t Worry, You’ll Be Here Forever,is filled with brooding and anthemic music and Berninger-esque vocals.

There are some nice electronic touches through out, and a surf-inspired turn on “Big Waves,” but the tunes that really hit home for me are the slow builders like “Another Life” and “The Long Haul.”

This EP sounds like a band that’s locked in and really sounds great together, even if the sound isn’t necessarily the most original groundbreaking music out there. There is still plenty to love about NO. Despite their nearly unsearchable name, big things might still be on the horizon for this group.

You can download the EP for free on NO’s Bandcamp page and check out a video for the closing song, “Stay With Me,” below.
